You’re sure there’s an answer in there somewhere, but you can’t seem to join the dots and see the big picture
You keep setting time aside to do some ‘big thinking’, but you keep pushing it back as the day-to-day keeps getting in the way.
Traditional ways of thinking aren’t cutting it and you need some inspiriation that will give you the breakthrough you need

“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.”
Why outdoors…?
There’s something special that stirs inside us when we head outdoors. We feel at home, in the environment that is familiar, where our bodies and minds evolved over tens of thousands of years.
We often try to do the big thinking in the same four walls where we live our day-to-day lives. It’s tough to be inspired about the future, when in the same environment where we work in the present.
Walking outdoors and in nature has been proven to lower stress, reduce anxiety, clear your mind, improve your focus and boost creativity.
What a fantastic base to begin asking the big questions.
How we find your time and space…
1. Book a Chat with us
Book a chat (Zoom or coffee near our office in Farsley) to see how a Taster Session will help you, and we can explore what you’re looking to get out of the session
2. We Plan the journey
You choose your location, day and time, and we’ll work with you to make sure you’re prepared. We’ll send out a briefing document 3 days before our session with all the information you’ll need
3. We meet outdoors
We’ll meet you at the walk start, turn off the distractions, and head out into nature
Your coach: Anthony Ackers
I work with entrepreneurs, leaders and teams to find direction, focus and confidence through 1:1 coaching and strategy workshops.
But I don’t like doing it in an office. To be ready to face the big questions, get clarity and open yourself up the possibilities, you need time, space and to change your horizon.
So I do this with you up a mountain.
Literally.

Q. Why Outdoor Coaching?
A. Walking outdoors has been proven to reduce stress, help with depression, reduce rumination, improve focus and enhance creativity. That’s before you factor in the physical benefits of walking, the sense of achievement and the meditative effect it has on the mind.
Sometimes dreaming bigger really needs us to escape from the four walls where we live a lot of our lives and get somewhere that inspires us.
And there is a huge synergy between the journeys we’re taking in our lives and the physical journey we embark on. We will guide you, help you and challenge you on both these journeys.
Q. What do I get out of it?
A. We all head into the wild seeking different things. Sometimes the answers we get aren’t to the questions we thought we had.
We’ll work with you before the session to understand any specific problems, challenges you might be facing, or aspirations you have, which will then set the scene for the session, and any exercises we do.
You will get support, honesty, questions that challenge the beliefs that have been holding you back, and a breakthrough plan of action.
After the session we will be in touch to hold you to account!
Q. Is it safe?
A. Ant is a trained outdoor leader, qualified to lead individuals and teams out into the wild. A huge amount of planning goes into creating a challenging, yet safe session. We will challenge you if appropriate, but never put you into situations which we do not believe you can deal with. You are in safe hands.
Q. Where are the expeditions held?
A. We have five stunning locations to choose from within 60 minutes’ reach of Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, York and Manchester. You don’t have to choose the location closest to you - if you see something inspiring that’s a little further away, go for it!
Q. How do I get to and from the expedition?
A. We expect all members of the expedition to make their own way to the start point. We can discuss logistics prior to the expedition (i.e. choosing an accessible start/end point if people are travelling via public transport). All of our expeditions are circular.
Q. Do you provide equipment?
A. We provide any equipment required for the actual coaching and strategy sessions - including paper/pens etc., and also provide any group-wide hill equipment (navigation aids, emergency supplies, etc.)
You are responsible for providing their own personal equipment and sustenance for the expedition. We can work with you to ensure that you have sufficient and cost-effective equipment (note that ‘sufficient’ may vary depending on the location you choose and the time of year!). Note that we have the right to refuse to lead people who we believe do not have sufficient equipment to complete the expedition safely.
Q. Can I bring my dog?
A. Yes! Having your furry companion along can add to the therapy of being outdoors, so you are welcome to bring them along. In order to protect the natural environment, and be mindful of others (and their land), we ask that:
You let us know in advance that you’re bringing your pet along
They must always be kept on a lead in farmers’ fields, and on open access land during March and October, due to the presence of livestock and ground-nesting birds
They shouldn’t negatively distract your attention from the session
Anything we take into the hills, we take out (scoop the poop!)
In addition, for group events, we also ask that your dog starts on a lead, is well-behaved and calm, and you are mindful of others in the group who may not be as curious/enthusiastic about your friend as they are about others!
Q. What if it rains?
A. Our view on the weather is that you can get as much benefit from expeditions in poor conditions as you can in perfect conditions. Indeed, expeditions in poorer conditions can strongly enhance the sense of achievement on completion, resilience, resourcefulness and flexibility.
We will work with you closely to establish the your comfort level generally, and each expedition will consider your bespoke needs.
If inclement weather is forecast that we believe, based on our discussions, is going to detract from your experience, we will contact you to discuss options with you. This could involve changes to equipment requirements, the route, or re-arranging the expedition.
If we believe that the weather poses a significant risk to your safety, we will postpone the session and re-arrange for a mutually convenient date.
